Hotel: the effortlessly-chic Hôtel Montalembert is a gem in the centre of Paris

I was recently invited to the beautiful five-star boutique Hôtel Montalembert and I was impressed by its subtle elegance, central location and impeccable service.

The hotel, housed in an amazing Haussmanian building is located in the centre of Saint- Germain-des-Prés, in the 6th arrondissement or Left Bank, within the Carré Rive Gauche, home to antiques and art galleries, only a few minutes away to the Musée Rodin, Museée d’Orsay and the Louvre, the Jardin du Luxembourg, Karl Lagerfeld’s book shop and studio, Le Bon Marché and the famous cafés Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore, where Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir where often seen. One of its greatest assets is the fantastic view over the rooftops of Paris!

When I thought it couldn’t be more VIP, arty and prestigious, the German bombshell actress and CHANEL “égérie” Diane Kruger passed in front of my stunning balcony… Fashion Week was about to start. The hotel welcomes events such as the Designers’ Day, Carré Rive Gauche previews and other exclusive events, such as literary prizes.

Recently refurbished, the hotel was built in 1926 and features a typically-Parisian Beaux-Arts architecture building. The recent renovation, under the famous interior architect and designer Christian Liaigre shows warm brown, gold, and grey tones mixed with simple stylish furniture, African art and classic lithographs. The welcoming terrace is perfect for lunch or dinner in Spring and Summer.

Several options for your stay in the 54 classy bedrooms: standard, superior, deluxe, junior rooms and suites are available. The remarkable suite Montalembert and la suite by Christian Liaigre both offer the perfect cozy atmosphere. “Chapeau” to the beautiful Cascais (Portugal)-marble bathroom where you’ll find luxury toiletries from L’Occitane! You don’t feel in a hotel but at home!

The subtle blend of woods and leather marks the timeless style of the famous French architect. Apart from the spacious white marble bathtub stands a walking shower with a French retro touch in the taps. At night, the refined atmosphere is emphasized by the soft dimmer lighting and the deep brown, purple, greyish palette.

The “salon Gallimard”, named after the celebrated Publishing House next door to the hotel, is available for private functions. The fireplace adds that touch of warmth you need in the cold February weather.

The restaurant is also amazing and the breakfast was one of the best I ever had: typical French patisseries, croissant-muffins (first time I ever had one), delicious breads and confiture! If you fancy a lunch, a wide range of dishes come under four main categories: Terre, Mer, Végétal, and Soleil, available in either “dégustation” or “gourmet” size. Chef David Maroleau updates the menu every month which means that you’ll come back.

The Hôtel Montalembert is the quintessence of the Parisian chic style. Merci beaucoup pour l’invitation!
